Gilbert Inn Tulips and Chess

Tulips and chess at the Gilbert Inn

Features

Upon entering the Gilbert Inn, an original Queen Anne Victorian house, you will see it is still much the same as when Alexandre completed his Seaside, Oregon home in 1892. The Gilbert Inn still looks much as it did back then; the fireplace still burns in the center of the parlor; the natural fir tongue and groove ceilings and walls retain their warmth and glow.

The Gilbert Inn’s living room

The ten guest rooms are inspired by the Victorian era,  echoing charm and elegance from the end of the 19th century. Each room offers queen sized beds, down quilts, cozy comforters, period furnishings and family heirlooms.  The emphasis is on comfort, rest and romance for Gilbert Inn guests.

The Breakfast Room in the Gilbert Inn

Share breakfast at a table just for two or meet new acquaintances in the morning light of the restored breakfast room.  The breakfast room, with its painted fir walls, includes two rooms.  The inner one used to be Nadine and Alex Gilbert's (Mayor Alexandre Gilbert’s grandson) bedroom.  The other portion of the breakfast room was the porch off the bedroom.

The Gilbert Inn is in one of the Oregon North Coast's most popular towns, Seaside; long a vacation favorite. Shops, restaurants, beaches all lay within easy walking distance. The Gilbert Inn is one-half block from the ocean and one block south of Broadway.

The Gilbert Inn is your 19th Century home in
Seaside, Oregon.   On sunny days there is no place more beautiful than the Oregon coast.  The weather is inclined to change somewhat in the Pacific Northwest, however.  The Gilbert Inn's common rooms provide a refuge from rain and wind.  They are great places to relax after a full day of fun, too.

In all weathers, sunny or not, there is so much to see and do in Seaside and the coast.  The Inn is one block from the Pacific Ocean beach, the ocean side promenade, or "Prom" as Oregonians call it,  Broadway (Seaside's "Main Street") and its popular "Turnaround."  At the Turnaround you will see a statue of Lewis and Clark who explored the region before "turning around" to go back east to report to
Mr. Jefferson in Virginia.

Just down the beach from the Gilbert Inn is Lewis and Clark's salt works.   Further out enjoy hiking and exploring Tillamook Head, Lewis and Clark's Oregon headquarters,
Ft. Clatsop or the
Columbia River
Maritime Museum.
